DiVa’a

Va’a is a word in Samoan, Hawaiian and Tahitian which means ‘boat’, ‘canoe’. The smaller Va’a used for fishing typically have a “ama”, a float, or outrigger, attached to the main hull for stability by two “jako”, i.e., two pieces of curved wood. Following the setup of these traditional boats there are today categories created for racing: these had been developed to achieve maximum speed and follow an interesting international racing program. We have had the pleasure of contributing in this sphere, too, by applying our know-how and research. These objects, that only at first glance seem primordial, actually offer many interesting ideas for innovations. Our Va’a has hydrodynamic characteristics that have immediately made the difference in many competition venues and it is also characterized by an innovative design and by our usual attention to detail. And lastly, we managed to implement one of manufacturer’s dominant ideas, that is the creation of the first single Va’a, with a hull divisible into three parts, telescopically compact and stowable in a portable trolley measuring 295 cm.
