The project for a new Flying Dutchman, commissioned by Plana Tech starts from a careful analysis of both the class rules than the evolution that FD hulls have followed in the recent years.
Our new canoe body is the winner above a large amount of candidate hulls, witch were tested takes on the base of the lower resistance and she take advantage of the tolerances allowed by the actual class rules.
Thanks to the latest 3d CAD – CAM design-construction techniques, it was possible to achieve a very new concept hull shape still remaining inside these tolerances and playing up to the tenth of a millimetre.
The chance to modify the development of the keel line curvature, on the base of possible maximum and minimum variations and the chance to associate sections at this line, these also with a range of possible variations, allowed us to make some extremely important variations regarding the longitudinal shape and the longitudinal volume distribution.
